THE SCENTS OF THE PAST VOL-ITHE SCENTS OF THE PAST VOL-IITHE SCENTS OF THE PAST VOL-IIITHE SCENTS OF THE PAST VOL-VI
The panoramic influence on human beings by the surrounding environment has been a reality for long time and had a lasting impact on them. It is to smell the scents, inhale its sweetness and endure it to transform into words for others to dwell and brighten up their personal concepts about life, nature and history. Every place is inhabited by unbounded opportunities where the sounds are turned into fragrances which impregnate the surroundings with fresh breeze and invite people of all hues to give birth to the progressive movements of ideas in nation building.
Aitchison College is one such place which its existence to people whose knowledge and vision 125 years ago, even today reverberates strongly. The College was originally named as Punjab Chiefs College on 2nd January 1886 and was renamed as Aitchison College on 13th November 1886 to honour the services of Sir Charles Umpherston Aitchison, the Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab through whose efforts the College was established.
‘THE SCENTS OF THE PAST’ is an informative and research oriented effort based on the Gazette notifications issued by the Govt. of the Punjab from time to time  on Aitchison College fraternity which has been least reported, analyzed or described earlier. It is spread over four volumes. The title mirrors the attitudes, ambitious and commitments of the legendary figures whose relentless struggle during the late 19th century gave this educational institute a strong and vibrant foothold in its infancy. Their scholarly contributions not only brought confidence and belief in the education system throughout Punjab particularly amongst the families of the Rulers, Nobles and Chiefs but also increased awareness in the general population.
