Principal's Letter April 3

Dear Parents and Students,

We are responding to information and educational requests as best we can without trying to overload you or write unnecessarily. We are managing according to what is necessary, timely and beneficial. As you can imagine, everything is in a state of flux and one decision can change everything. We are working closely with the British Council and Cambridge, and universities.

Our planned June restart, if it goes ahead, means that Aitchison boys, in all year levels, will return briefly to the year level they left in order to complete vital work. The senior classes have been explained in our recent newsletter. This enables us to finish courses properly and to make certain that transitioning is successful. Junior and Prep boys must finish off their levels of schooling too for a smooth transition. Accordingly, June to August will be focussed on these outcomes, after which boys will be automatically promoted for an August start to the new year in 2020.

Regardless of the circumstances, there are no shortcuts in education. Missing work is not an option. Boys should feel confident they still have sufficient time for everything to be achieved that needs achieving, and they will be placed well for further studies. What has been published in our April 2 newsletter is essential and well thought out.

While it is officially Summer holidays now, I ask boys to keep an eye on the portals for studies and keep up their efforts to remain abreast of studies and progressive expectations. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary efforts. I know our boys are up for the challenge. We are always happy to answer your queries through the Heads of School, but do read 'uploads' before contacting us.

I wish every family a safe and happy Summer break.

With warm wishes,

Michael Thomson M.A., Dip. Ed., M.A.C.E
Principal
