Educational Trip to Nandipur

On 26th April 2025, the Prep School's Mathematics Department organised an educational tour to the Irrigation Research Institute and the Hydel and Thermal Power Stations in Nandipur. At the Research Institute, the students explored the hydraulic models of various water resource projects and witnessed the operation of some of them. These models illustrated how things are scaled down and proportioned to manageable limits, enabling a convenient study of the actual projects, which are twenty to eighty times the models' size. The visit offered a practical demonstration of mathematical concepts, particularly geometry and scale modeling, as students noted the diverse geometric shapes incorporated into the designs.

Later, at the Hydel and Thermal Power Stations, the students experienced firsthand real-world infrastructure projects' vast scale and complexity. They gained insights into the operation of large-scale power generation facilities, how critical systems are monitored and controlled, and the challenges engineers face in maintaining and optimizing such installations. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications, enhancing their understanding of both mathematics and engineering practices.
