Principal's letter January 16

Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to write to you at a moment of historic significance in the life of our alma mater.

The year 2025 will be remembered not merely for the funds raised or milestones achieved, but for something far more enduring: the visible awakening of a collective spirit of giving among Aitchisonians and reaffirmation of the bond between the College and those it has shaped.

Through the extraordinary commitment of our alumni community, nearly US$1 million was raised from over 660 contributors, spanning generations and geographies. This was not the effort of a few, but a shared endeavour that spoke of trust, belief, and a deep sense of responsibility towards the institution we all call home.

More importantly, these contributions have already translated into real and measurable impact. In August 2025, eight bright and deserving boys from remote and underrepresented regions of Pakistan were inducted into K6 at Aitchison College as boarders. Selected through a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based process, these students now form the first cohort of a fully funded scholarship pathway that will support them from Junior School through to A-Levels, offering not only academic excellence but holistic development, mentorship, and belonging. For these boys and their families, your collective contributions have opened doors that would never have been available to them. For Aitchison, this marks the birth of a programme that reflects its highest ideals: opportunity, inclusion, and national service, achieving a real milestone in making Aitchison College a truly National School of Pakistan.

Recognising both the promise and responsibility of this initiative, the Board of Governors has formally approved the establishment of an independently governed Trust structure outside of Aitchison College to steward these funds. This ensures that alumni contributions are safeguarded within a separate, professionally governed framework, dedicated exclusively to the long-term sustainability of the Endowment Fund, and to the use of these funds for the sole purpose for which they were raised.

The coming year will be the true test of whether this initiative becomes a one-time success or an enduring Aitchison tradition. Our ambition is clear: to induct an additional 8–12 scholars, and to establish this programme as a permanent expression of alumni stewardship which is renewed each year by those who once walked these grounds.

I therefore invite you, once again, to come together - across batches, borders, and backgrounds - to strengthen and expand this effort. By doing so, you will not only transform individual lives but help embed a culture of giving that future generations of Aitchisonians will inherit with pride. I am enclosing herewith a brief on the overall successes of 2025, and some key milestones achieved in this journey.

With gratitude for what has been achieved, and confidence in what lies ahead.

Endowment Fund – Scholarship Drive 2026

Yours sincerely,
