Robinson Challenge Cup for Cross Country

The Senior School boys and Old Aitchisonians competed in the approximately 9.20 km Cross Country Race on Friday 2nd December, 2016. A total of 96 participants ran the inaugural race of the W.A. Robinson Challenge Cup, named after the first Principal of Aitchison College, Walter Robinson.

Sajjad Ali Khan of LJ House won the Cup, finishing the race 1st in 35m 42.74s. Muizz Ali Khan of Baluchistan House finished 2nd in 35m 48.02s while Nosher Ali Khan of Kelly House finished 3rd in 35m 51.01s.

The event was marked with an air of excitement and saw active participation from the students. The whole College had joined in to watch and support the runners. The students were also inspired by the enthusiastic participation of the Old Boys, who were delighted to be back at their alma mater. “I ran the Cross Country after 23 years and it felt great! There were students cheering us on along the track. We relived so many amazing memories,” said Old Boy Unser Zaman, former Cross Country record holder from the batch of 1993, who secured the overall 6th position in the race.

The introduction of the Robinson Challenge Cup for Cross Country Race is one of the various initiatives by College Principal Michael Thomson to breathe new life into sports at Aitchison and to connect the Old Boys with their College.
