Meteorology in Motion: Prep School Students Learned to Predict the Weather
Aitchison College, Prep School Science Department, organised a field trip to the Meteorological Department, Lahore, for our E2 students. During the visit, students gained firsthand exposure to how precisely weather data is established, maintained, and verified in laboratories using advanced scientific instruments and techniques. Our students also observed various processes related to data collection, weather forecasting, and quality assurance. Boys showed keen curiosity as they interacted with meteorologists and observed real-time demonstrations. They learnt how to use the various tools and techniques to study and accurately predict the weather. They observed how various instruments record data of temperature, air pressure, humidity, wind speed, and cloud movements, and learned how this data is beneficial for daily life applications.
The trip fostered teamwork, discipline, and observational skills as students actively participated in discussions and note-taking. Experiencing science in action strengthened their motivation to pursue hands-on learning and develop a stronger connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
