In the Mother's Love: Persian Room Unveiled in Memory of Syeda Mubarak Begum


On Saturday, 3rd January 2026, Syed Babar Ali (OBE), a renowned philanthropist, businessman, founder of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, and the most senior member of the Aitchison College Governing Body inaugurated the Persian Room at Aitchison College Prep School.

The ceremony was attended by the worthy Principal, Dr. S.M. Turab Hussain, members of the teaching faculty, students and family of Syed Babar Ali Sahib. The room is dedicated to fostering a love for Persian language and is named in honour of the late Syeda Mubarak Begum, mother of Syed Babar Ali Sahib. The event celebrated her lifelong passion for Persian heritage and profound contributions to its preservation.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Syed Babar Ali, highlighted the enduring importance of classical languages and the vital role cultural traditions play in shaping our future.

A particularly moving moment was the unveiling of the commemorative plaque by Syeda Mubarak Begum’s great-grandchildren: the children of Mubarik Imam (daughter of Syeda Henna Babar Ali); the children of Zehra Ali (daughter of Syed Hyder Ali); and the child of Gauhar Afroze Ali (daughter of Syed Hyder Ali). It was indeed a significant day in the annals of Aitchison College, Prep School.
